That eternal life-a relationship with God-is the free gift. *How do I get a relationship with God?* This gift is very easy to recieve. 1) Understand that all mankind has sinned. 2) Believe that Jesus Christ died on a cross for your sins. Don't believe me? Then look at John 3:16 again. Now look at Romans 5:8, it says that God demonstrated His love for us "in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." 3) Believe that after Christ gave His life for you by dying on the cross, He rose again and defeated death. By doing this, we are guaranteed eternal life after our body dies if we have a relationship with God. 4) Confess your belief with your mouth, which is prayer. Prayer is not mysterious or scary, it is simply talking to God. In Romans 10:9 the bible says, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has rasied Him from the dead, then you will be saved." Still not sure what to say, try this: God, I don't know you personally, but I want to know you. I believe that Your word, the bible, is true. I don't want to go to hell, I really want forgiveness from my sins. I believe that Jesus died for my sins and rose agian. Come into my heart and cleanse me of my sins and give me the power overcome death. I want to be Your child and learn Your ways. Keep me from evil. I ask this in the name of Jesus, Amen. Now you have just recieved God's free gift, eternal life. But don't stop there, go to church, meet others who have this "gift", pray and read the bible.
